4. Do I need a partner to join a class?
You’re welcomed to join us on your own. We ensure to rotate partners during classes, so you’ll have the chance to dance with everyone. The best time to meet and connect with new friends.
5. What are the dance roles?
In Lindy Hop and most other partner dances, traditionally there are two roles: Leader and Follower, which are not gender-specific, anyone can choose the role they want.
- Leader: Initiates the movement and guides the direction.
- Follower: Responds to the leader with adding their own style and creativity.
Both roles are equally important and we encourage everyone to explore both. As you gain more experience, these roles can blend together, making the dance feel more like an equal conversation between two dancers.
5. Do I need to register for classes in advance?
You can drop in any time for our regular classes. You just need to register in advance, so we can optimize the class. Pay at the door, and we’ll get you dancing.
6. What should I wear to class?
Comfortable clothing is best, something that allows movement. As for shoes, make sure they’re clean, indoor-friendly and comfortable. Avoid shoes with sticky soles, as they might make it harder to glide on the floor.
7. What is the schedule for classes and social dances?
We offer regular Lindy Hop classes every week. Check our schedule page for the latest updates on times and locations.
8. Is there a minimum level to join the classes?
We welcome all levels. We have beginner classes that focus on the foundation, while our improver classes dive deeper into more variations, improvisation and musicality. Check our level descriptions to see where you fit.
9. Can I just come to the social dance?
Yes! You’re welcome to attend our social dances even if you’re not taking the class. Our social dances are open to everyone and they’re a great place to practice what you’ve learned and meet other dancers.
